How Does Topical THC Work? | Discover Marijuana
Topical cannabis products, or cannabis products intended to be applied directly to the skin, can help patients with a variety of conditions, including muscle pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis.
Balms tend to have the longest-lasting effects, but some patients may prefer the familiar consistency of lotions. Medical cannabis topicals often contain THC, but they don’t cause the “high” feeling commonly associated with the drug.
Topical treatments often use other chemicals to help the body absorb medicines like THC and CBD. We talked briefly about one of those chemicals, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and why it has fallen out of favor.
What are your favorite topicals and what are you using them to treat? Share your experiences and help others Discover Marijuana in the comments.

Great info! I've tried balm on my knee, I didn't like the greasy feel. I like the idea of faster absorption with the lotion.

Love Topicals I use them for carpel tunnel and even sciatic nerve pain. I feel like they relax you and the muscles, not get you high.
I’ve tried Soothie and Synergy Relief. Always open to try other brands when I can.

I have tried some cbd with out thc but I have creams work better when they are both present.
Amber Stachitus
I love Zion's Cypress Sage Balm. It has higher ratio of CBD to THC, but works better for me than some of the higher THC topicals I've tried.

Blake, I was very interested in your comment about lower back pain, particularly in the mornings. I've been through 6 back surgeries and multiple spinal fusions, and I frequently hurt, sometimes really bad, in the morning. Is there a particular topical you can recommend that works best for you? I'd love some guidance on what might be a good starting point for me.

I have horrible crippling inflammatory arthritis in my hands. Couldn't hold paper clips, paper, a pen, or type. Ridiculous way to live! So damn painful! (Like a red hot poker from a fireplace shoved into my bone marrow) I use Dragonfly Topical Butter lavender-lemon. 500 mg THC 500 mg CBD and Zion Sage Balm. At bedtime I throughly rub in the Dragonfly to my Knees (front & back) my hands & some nights along my lower back. Then rub deeply into my thumb joints and along the back of my hands the Balm. Fabulous Relief! Thank you for these miraculous SAFE Relief ? tools.

One thing that constantly comes back into my mind when I study this whole industry is, ‘What’s that worth to us?’ I picture people who may need the help that one or more of the many forms that cannabis can provide being used to help them. Imagine the relief from their suffering that cannabis and it’s many forms can do! What is that help worth to those people? I’m so glad we’ve managed to put aside our biases and allowed folks help that only cannabis may be able to accomplish. If you’re struggling, hang in there and look for the beautiful things in this world around us, and take care.

Just found this video because I just started using topicals. I'm using an oil, about as thick as shaving oil. Any info on duration/effectiveness vs lotion and balm?

I love how you ask literally every question a new consumer would think of asking. There are SO many channels reviewing products in a way that makes no better sense of the science, presents no practical information I can apply to my own medical needs etc. This channel was a God-send for me.

How come topicals in my area in lotions they use 100mg (65/35) cb/thc % and cost 30-40$ what makes so expensive the lotion can’t be that expensive to produced and how edidles or tinctures around 100mg of thc and/or cdb have lower prices anywhere between $ 3-12 dollars per 100mg so why topicals have such prices??
ELENA MENDEZ LPN
I use a balm with THC and CBC tested my urine and tested positive for THC. I had read online that these balms would not make you test positive?
BoopBoop!
I'll be working at a dispensary soon and I'm looking to educate myself on all sorts of cannabis products! Great and informative video 🙂

Do the balms/lotions work on Plantar Fasciitis of the foot? I’m desperate to find relief, I stand and walk all day at work and my foot pain has become almost unbearable.
