In this video, Mikael Sant, founder of Sant Lines, will share his advice on how to start a trucking company from scratch. Mikael has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Although he’s still a teenager, Sant Lines is just one of seven businesses he’s started and owns. He saw the industry’s potential through a friend whose family are owner-operators and started researching how to start a trucking business of his own.
He founded Sant Lines in May of 2021, and in its first three months of operation, brought in more than $150,000 in revenue. In just over a year, he’s expanded from one truck to a fleet of five, with plans to grow even further by the end of 2022.
Maybe most impressive is that Mikael has accomplished this as a self-taught entrepreneur with no prior experience in the trucking industry. We’ll find out how he developed the skills to effectively lead a trucking company and build his business from the ground up.
He’ll share how much it cost him to get started and how he financed that investment, along with the systems he implemented to manage the business and how he grew brand awareness and found his first customers. If you’re in the transportation industry, or thinking about starting a trucking business, you’ll definitely want to hear Mikael’s insights! And if you’re looking for more advice from business owners, check out some of our past interviews:

It's so crazy to see such a young guy this smart. I've been a company driver for 11 years and have always had dreams of driving for a company guy like this or owning a company like him. I do meet and turns for old dominion freight line and have done team driving but I've never done the "warehouse to warehouse" driving. I've got my million miles and would love to have an opportunity to drive for this guy. Good on him. Sounds like he takes great care of his drivers and equipment.
_.incredible_magnum._

Amazing to see, I started 3 years ago whenever I was 20 years old. Today I have 5 trucks, 3 are paid off 2 are lease and 5 reefers. This video is spot on and amazing to see people my age doing this as well. My biggest struggle was finding drivers at first but now I have many interested and no trucks anywhere for a decent price. Covid prices on trucks are still here and rates are low with high diesel prices. Anybody looking to get started I’d encourage you, I started with a 500k mile fleet owned Volvo that cost me 35k. Won’t get those prices any more but heres the takeaway. Stay under 500k miles so you still have a warranty(make sure you do). Make some money on that truck and don’t screw people over and be cheap on repairs. Drivers come and go but treat everyone right along with your trucks and you’ll retire early! Just my two cents

The crazy part of this is LITERALLY ANYONE CAN DO THIS!

And less than 1 year exp. doing actually trucking ?
The Slavic immigrant
He started a trucking company from 'scratch' funded by the bank of mum&dad as well as their connections.
No 19yr old would have $32k to buy a truck+insurances etc etc to start a business of this nature, and he wouldn't be able to get a loan for it because he's 19.
Dude's in the PERFECT situation and had his start funded by his parents&got clients through his parents…999.99k out of a million other people in his situation wouldn't get a single client no matter how hard they tried.
Deermeat
Me and my buddy are watching this to get some ideas on Starting the trucking business
egomaniac247
:02 I know a 20 year old that got killed like that, putting himself between equipment.

How much are the monthly operating costs and other expenses such as truck payments, insurance registration etc ?
Cerry Jowler
This is not realistic in any way. I can see that from circumstances, there is no need to get caught up in the propaganda.
Elver Gon Temeto
When your daddy buys you everything thats how far you get
S_Tonykills26_S
Wait the whole truck for 19k?
max kallio
Wow this guy is ambitious and super talented!
mrleosoma
all you need is 32 grand at the age of 19 – anyone can do it!
K MELODIQ
If only 19 and only running intrastate because of his age is impressive or he has others working for him that can run out of state.
K MELODIQ
Times are changing…I instruct at a CDL school and many are coming in with there trucking companies already…they just want to know how to drive… Especially when they hired a driver that flaked out on them and they need to pick it up
jsh
Bro!!! The pinch point at 4:52 needs to be avoided in the future please ?
Nathan Robinson
Thanks for trucking. I have a cousin who drives feed truck
Felix Ortiz
This is a great example that age is just a number, good job man ?
Luke Plays
He can only start the business because his parents or grandparents gave him the money to buy the first truck in the first place, no 18 or 19-year-old has $32,000 sitting around
Mrbigrisktaker
What is his Instagram/ Other social media accounts? I wanna ask him some questions!
SAB&Music
He is paying $.50 to $.70 cents a mile, how the hell is this guy surviving?
Faizo Mayamba
Hallo iam so impressed ? bro how can you help me out come over there and maybe work for you coz iam a truck driver here in Uganda
205Q
Man this is awesome I wish more men like this at his age would just think and try to make something out themselves.. but I also think it’s sad that allot of men older then him is not going to want to work for him just because of his age!! There ego and them feeling like no way I’m working for an 19 year old I got grand baby older then him. Salute to you young man
205Q
And to add it’s so messed up that this young man is being held back because of his age. Not from everything but some things that could get him farther
JJP_Jack
I would like to also hear about his construction company!
Smurkz
i wonder what Sant Lines means as his companies name
michael pratts
