This video is designed to act as your complete guide to nootropics and ‘smart drugs’. It will guide you through the way the brain works, how nootropics interact with our neurons and neurotransmitters and how you can use that to increase focus, boost brain plasticity, feel more confident and more.

Throughout, I’ll be attempting to answer the question: is there such thing as a ‘real limitless pill’? Can a supplement really help you to become more productive, more focussed, more creative and more charming? Can you really become a new and better you?

My conclusion is generally that no, a supplement cannot turn you into Eddie Mora from Limitless. While something like modafinil can help you stay awake longer and boost your focus and memory, this comes at the expense of other cognitive skills like creativity. It also comes with side effects and the risk inherent in buying any medication online.

I’m not necessarily saying ‘don’t use nootropics’. That’s ultimately up to you. I’m saying be careful and recognize that altering neurotransmitters is the more dangerous and potentially harmful avenue. My preferred option is to focus on nutrition, energy and maybe a little plasticity. So that means: consuming nutrients like vitamins, minerals and amino acids, fueling the brain with ketones and glucose and having the right lifestyle. I go over several great options in the video, ranging from cordyceps, to lutein, to MCT oil.

There’s a lot to discuss here but I’ve tried to cover everything as succinctly as I can. I hope that this will serve as your comprehensive introduction and guide to nootropics! If you have any questions, let me know below!

    I've personally found aniracetam/noopept/lions mane to be great for creative work such as writing novels and making newpapers. And alpha GPC of course.

    I also train and for that, creatine and cordyceps is amazing, as you said.

    Hm.. Limitless was an interesting movie as it explored the notion of unlocking potential.. I do like also that it didn't skimp on showing the downside and had him navigate those effects.
    * I did enjoy u unpacking the details of how beneficial Grean Tea is especially as an alternative to Coffee or for myself Mt. Dew.. I felt a definite difference w/ in days.. but didn't realize what was causing it. – Thanx for that

    I've used modafinil a lot. My assessment: it's a good stimulant as far as stimulants go, but it's often over-hyped. Combined with nicotine patches, it helped me study programming all day every for over a month straight. Not sure I could have done that otherwise.

    (Which, speaking of nootropics… Nicotine is one. Via acetylcholine, I believe, which vital to attention and learning. Which is also why you have "weird" dreams if you leave a patch on when you go to bed; the dreams may or may not be weirder than usual, but you almost certain to remember them better after waking. Like anything, it has plusses and minuses, but my understanding is that nicotine itself, although the world's most addictive drug, is not itself very harmful…it's all the other stuff in tobacco smoke that kills you. And taken via transdermal patch, it's much much less addictive than smoking or vaping. I use patches for the effects of nicotine, not to quit, but I find I can stop using the patches at any time without difficulty. It really helps me get work/studying done sometimes. Unlike many nootropics, it's extremely well-studied, and there is absolutely no doubt that it can improve your ability to focus.)

    I think I like it better than Adderall in some ways, because it gives me alertness without putting me in fight-or-flight mode the way Adderall does. OTOH, it doesn't give me the DRIVE that Adderall often does, or the desire/compulsion to workout intensely and keep going harder and longer than I would otherwise be inclined to. But I'm trying to take a break from it to see if I can get better sleep and better functioning overall as a result.

    It has a very long half-life, so I notice that taking it even immediately on waking at dawn can interfere with my sleep the following night. Taking it in the middle of the day is a recipe for insomnia, and IME, even though it can offset the effects of sleep deprivation, you can still feel effects. Plus that can lead to taking more offset sleep deprivation, so you take more, which deprives you of sleep… 400 mg (the amount some studies found was effective in the treatment of ADD) really makes it hard to sleep; on 100 mg, I can sleep, but I suspect my quality of sleep may be affected. I may try to test this when I get an Apple watch (my Fitbit died for no reason reason after 2 years).

    Was put on a wild antidepressant for interesting reasons. It increased focus and memory and basically was an instant smart pill. But there were crazy brain zaps if i ever missed doses and killed my inner drive. Super clever but just didnt care. Nothing is free.

    I would love for you to try and answer a question, I bought this No Salt, potassium salt substitute offline and I've struggled to use it in the daily recommended amount mixed with water as an electrolyte without feeling weird, so one day I tried using just a tiny pinch mixed into a litre of water with coffer and my energy has been consistently explosive more than any other nootropic ive tried, and particularly after I've eaten a bunch of potatoes, almost like the fibre or structure of the potato allows for better absorption of the potassium, I don't know, how would you explain this? I've had a similar experience with liquud magnesium with a pipet, it recommends whole pipets per 100g but I've put literally 3 drops in again, a litre flask of water, shaken it around and it's been sending me off to sleep despite a cup of coffee in the evening, whereas before I wouldn't be able to sleep at all like that. Is this homeopathy or placebo or is something else going on?
