Are nootropics addictive

This video covers; nootropics vs Smart Drugs, tolerance, psychological addiction, nootropic withdrawal, and non-addictive alternatives to Smart Drugs.
If you’re in recovery, will nootropics take you down that slippery slope to using again? Are nootropics addictive?
I know this is not something that is often talked about in nootropic circles.
But addiction is a problem in our society. And it scares me enough to give pause with how I talk about nootropics.
Being careful to weigh all the pros and cons of each nootropic supplement. And provide fair warning when something could cause problems for some people.
The thing is, I’ve had the misfortune of having to live with, and deal with addiction among people closest to me. The call-the-paramedics, break-the-door-down kind of addiction that is a matter of life or death.
The good news is that most nootropic supplements I’ve reviewed over the last few years are safe. With a couple of exceptions and can be used by anyone. Including someone who is dealing with addiction.

I have been on modafinil for a very long time, prescribed by my neurologist. I would not consider it addictive in fact I have to remind myself to take it at times.

Hey David, can I take 1-3mg nicotine as a nootropic daily or will the nootropical effects diminish? I know tolerance is a thing, but I am confused because I read that nicotine upregulates certain receptors.

Hi David, I love watching your Videos as they are informative and factual without exhibiting the over-enthusiasm evident with a lot of other Nootropic videos on Y T. To that end I would really appreciate your assessment of 'Bromantane' because I think a more grounded presentation on it would help myself and others who have been consuming it. Thanks.

A few days ago I purchased a small pot of thyme . I actually wanted a few sprigs but all the store had was a living plant for 99c . Each day I have clipped off a two inch sprig maybe three times throughout the day and chewed . I have noticed a drop in my anxiety . Has anyone any info or heard of thyme reducing anxiety ? I haven't experienced any effects whatsoever other than a noticeable fall in anxiety .

Hi David, Great video for beginners who often time don't cycle nootropics but rather keep increasing dosage overtime which may cause long term issues.
Just wanted to ask something about NGF or nerve growth factor. I know that Lion's mane increases NGF activity. But, I don't remember where, But, I think I've read that Gotu Kola also increases NGF activity. Is that true? I mean, I think Gotu Kola increases dendrite length also maybe axon growth too. But, does it have a positive effect on NGF? Lion's mane is quite expensive at where I live, so may wanna try Gotu Kola first. Your input will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am thankful to have found your channel. I love the way you explain everything. My son recently died of alcoholism/ cirrhosis ?- a yr ago next week… so I appreciate the seriousness of taking anything when people throw around the word addictive – so thank you for making this easier to understand. I found your channel in my search to have overall health & wellbeing & longevity for myself & my husband. I'm searching for info on choline for brain health & to prevent dementia &/or alzheimers. Can you please connect me to your videos discussing this. I've been finding some talking about noontropics not being good – so now I'm a bit nervy. I appreciate your help. Thank you!
